Stars Snatch Late-Game, 4-3 Win
The inspired effort of Boston first baseman Bob Cutting was not enough to prevent a loss, 4-3, to the New York Stars. Cutting was 4-4 with a double and 3 singles. Werner Koenig earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 10-5. The Union League-leading Stars are 80-60.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Alex Harris was at the plate when New York scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Stars to go in front, 4-3.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said New York manager Eli Moses.
