Keystones Trip Eagles, 5-1
Spirited fans greeted the Washington Eagles for their clash with the Philadelphia Keystones.

Philadelphia starter Steve Ryan kept the Washington offense from doing much damage. The right-hander leaned on his changeup in leading the Keystones to a 5-1 win. The winner was Ryan. He threw 8.1 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Bill Pisani.

The Keystones got a big at-bat from right fielder Ken Kern. For the game, Kern went 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 12th home run of the season gave Philadelphia a 3-0 lead.

"We took home the win," said Kern. "What's not to like?"

The win puts Philadelphia at 74-63 this season.
