| Beacons Use Late Score to Top Lancers, 2-1 | Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Boston Beacons and Detroit Lancers.
Detroit got a valiant performance from pitcher Roy Douglas, but it wasn't enough to beat the Boston Beacons. Boston won the game, 2-1. Douglas threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Boston reliever Harvey Morris picked up the win, upping his record to 2-4. Frank Aldrich took the loss.
Tom Baird had a direct impact on the outcome. Baird contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Boston up, 2-1.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Baird said.
Boston is now 72-64. Detroit is 68-68.
