Thunderbirds Sneak Past Green Sox, 2-1 | Seattle Thunderbirds starter Johnny Witt turned in a sterling performance against the Portland Green Sox, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. Seattle reliever Charlie Potter picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Del Burns shouldered the loss. The Thunderbirds go to 33-52 with the win.
Seattle used the timely hitting of Joe Farley to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Thunderbirds on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Johnny was able to execute his pitches," said Seattle manager Harry McCormick. "Simple as that." | |
