Both teams had their chances, but the Atlanta Copperheads eventually prevailed.

In a low-scoring contest between the Atlanta Copperheads and the Baltimore Clippers, Jack Kotarski, who finished 5th in the FA in innings pitched with 259.2 in 1967, proved to be the difference. The Atlanta right-hander earned props for his performance in the 1-0 Copperheads win. Buddy Thomas closed the game out for Atlanta, earning his 2nd save.

John Newton came through for Atlanta when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a two-strike sinker to right field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.

"Some games build character," said Atlanta manager Don Fox. "Like this one."

Baltimore now is 2-1.
