Lancers Tuck Away 3-2 Win Over New York
Thompson Field was the site of a competitive game between the New York Stars and Detroit Lancers.

Starting pitcher John Humphreys was a major factor in the 3-2 Detroit Lancers triumph over the New York Stars. The winner was Humphreys. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Ray Cox. Frank Aldrich got the save, his 9th in 13 chances.

Tom Weber was 1-3 with a double for Detroit. The 23-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ray Cox. It was his 31st RBI of the season.

"Tough loss," said New York manager Eli Moses. "But we'll learn from it."

With the win, the Lancers have a record of 65-65.
