| Grays Take Tight Tangle | Both teams had their chances, but the Cleveland Grays eventually prevailed.
The Cleveland Grays earned a close win over the Pittsburgh Mechanics, thanks in part to Fred Reimer. The Cleveland right-hander, who is tied for 7th in the UL in wins with 15, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Cleveland is now 63-70. Pittsburgh is 66-63.
Bob Albertson, who finished 3rd in the UL in stolen bases with 40 in 1914, had a direct impact on the outcome. Albertson contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Cleveland up, 3-2.
"Nice win for us," said Albertson. "Now we'll go after the next one." | | | | | |
