Copperheads Take Down Chiefs, 6-5
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Atlanta Copperheads and Chicago Chiefs.

The Atlanta Copperheads wiggled past the Chicago Chiefs, 6-5, in 11 innings at Whitney Park. The win was highlighted by the performance of Atlanta second baseman Al Hubbard. Atlanta reliever Frank Maxwell snagged the win, upping his record to 1-1. Ed Rowley shouldered the loss.

It could have been a different outcome for Atlanta, had it not been for Henry Woods, the 1963 Kellogg Award winner . Woods contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning to put Atlanta up, 6-5.

"Our team found a way to get it done," said Woods.

The Chiefs, 10-17, continue their poor start to the 1974 campaign.
