| Minneapolis Wins, 3-2, Over Chiefs | In a low-scoring contest between the Minneapolis Millers and the Chicago Chiefs, 23-year old right-handed pitcher Bob Ciaramella proved to be the difference. The Minneapolis right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Millers win. Minneapolis reliever Ben Baird picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Hal Alsip took the loss. Del Robinson nailed down the save.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Bill Pierce came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Chicago pitcher Hal Alsip, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Minneapolis on top, 3-2.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Ciaramella said.
Minneapolis goes to 15-12. | |
