Tight Tilt Goes to Centurions, 4-3 | Seattle got a valiant performance from pitcher Harl Haines, but it wasn't enough to beat the Dallas Centurions. Dallas won the game, 4-3. Haines threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Dallas starter Ira Hawker was credited with the win after throwing 135 pitches over 8.1 innings. His record now stands at 8-5. The Centurions saw their record improve to 33-34.
Lou Bennett had a big 2-run home run for the Centurions in the bottom of the first inning. With Dallas leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a screwball from Harl Haines and swatted a home run to left. It was his 7th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Centurions ahead, 4-1.
Bennett told a Dallas Times reporter that he was "gratified" with the win. | |
