| Gray Socks Cougars in 6-1 Sailors Win | A good performance from third baseman Bob Gray helped the San Francisco Sailors defeat the Chicago Cougars, 6-1. Gray went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Sailors. Charlie Lawson went 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits. The right-hander, who leads the CA in quality starts with 8, struck out 5 and walked 1. With the win, he's now 3-1 this season. At 19-23, the Sailors claim 5th place in the Continental Association.
San Francisco used the hitting of Heinie Spitler to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Sailors on top, 2-0. For the game, Spitler had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said Spitler.
