| Clippers Clip Pioneers, 3-2 | Baltimore Clippers starter Joe McDowell turned in a sparkling performance against the St. Louis Pioneers, leading his team to a 3-2 win. McDowell picked up the win for Baltimore, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. Picking up the save was 38-year old right-handed pitcher Jimmy Pepper.
The Clippers got a big hit from right fielder Ike Barnett. Facing St. Louis pitcher Harry Anderson in the bottom of the fifth, Barnett pounded a run-scoring double to left. His 6th double of the season put the Clippers ahead, 3-0.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Barnett told the Baltimore Citizen.
Baltimore is now 15-13. | |
