| Dallas Downed, 7-3, by Stars | Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Dallas Wranglers home opener. Larry Perry started for the home team against Bill Dunham for the Los Angeles Stars. The Wranglers were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 7-3, Los Angeles. Larry Perry, though, was impressive. Reliever Clay Buddemeyer picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Asbury Ashmore, who led the CA in ERA with 2.52 in 1973, took the loss.
Los Angeles used a timely hit from Ed Moore to get the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Stars ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Nice win for us," said Moore. "Now we'll go after the next one." | |
