Pioneers Get Clutch Win, 4-3
St. Louis parlayed a decent outing from starter Jeff Kelley into a solid win over the Philadelphia Keystones. The final score was 4-3. Kelley, who finished 2nd in the UL in wins with 21 in 1909, went the distance for St. Louis. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. With the win over Philadelphia, the Pioneers improved to 57-69.

Charlie Wright was the walk-off hero for St. Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Pioneers center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"The fans went nuts at the end," Kelley said.
