Seattle Thunderbirds starter Harl Haines pitched effectively against the Portland Green Sox at Thunderbird Park. The left-hander spearheaded his team's 4-2 win. Haines, now 2-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 1, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Bill Beaudry got credit for the save for Seattle. It was his 3rd of the year.

With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Al Haynes had a game-changing hit. The Thunderbirds first baseman slammed a 2-run single off Ike O'Donnell, making the score 4-1, Seattle.

"I liked his command," said Seattle manager Harry McCormick. "Harl was throwing strikes."

With the win, Seattle has a record of 21-36. Portland falls to 25-32.
