| Beacons Rally to Eke Out Win | The Boston Beacons faced a tough opponent in Pittsburgh pitcher Casey Edwards, but still scratched out a win at Beacon Park by a final score of 2-1 in 11 innings. Edwards went 8.2 innings and allowed 1 run. The Mechanics, at 58-59, have lost 4 straight games.
The decisive blow was delivered by Tony Bearden in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a run-scoring double off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Randy Boroughs to win the game for Boston. The home crowd went nuts.
"We battled our tails off to get this win," said Boston manager John Milton.
