Eagles Deal Pioneers 4-1 Defeat
Washington right-hander Billy Robertson pitched his team to victory over the St. Louis Pioneers at Pioneer Field. The final score was 4-1. Bert Behrendt earned the save, his 18th in 22 tries. The loss makes St. Louis 54-68.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bill McLaughlin? The Washington right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Eagles on top, 1-0. For the game, McLaughlin had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said McLaughlin. "It sure beats the alternative."
