| Pioneers Get Clonked by Chiefs, 9-5 | With left fielder Joe Siniscalchi leading the charge, the Chicago Chiefs defeated the St. Louis Pioneers, 9-5, at Pioneer Field III. Siniscalchi, who finished 3rd in the FA in extra base hits with 56 in 1971, was 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Nate Carr, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 5-0. The Pioneers fall to 7-19 and continue their unimpressive start to the 1975 season.
The Chiefs benefited from an error in the top of the sixth inning. Chicago was leading 5-4 when Rankin Ziegler hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Chicago in front, 7-4.
"We came out aggressive," said Chiefs manager Ollie Howard. "We came out swinging the bats." | |
