Centurions Rally For 9-5 Win | Birdie Jackson left his imprint on the 9-5 Dallas win against the Portland Green Sox. Jackson, who finished 3rd in the GWL in slugging percentage with .431 in 1946, drew 4 walk, while scoring 2 times. Dallas reliever Howie Edwards picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Pete Brown shouldered the loss. Dallas, now 20-22, holds down 4th place in the Great Western League.
Dallas used the timely hitting of Al Gross to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Centurions on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Jackson, "one at-bat at a time." | |
