Dynamos Topple Chiefs, 6-5, as Estes Shines
Behind a solid performance from first baseman Dick Estes, the Detroit Dynamos defeated the Chicago Chiefs, 6-5. Estes went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Dynamos. Dixie Lee picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-1. He struck out 2 in 8 innings. Jimmy Long finished the game for Detroit and earned his 3rd save.

Rick York drove in one run for Detroit. The 30-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Charlie Bingham. It was his 5th RBI of the season.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," York said in reaction to the win.

Detroit is now 18-20, Chicago 18-20.
