| Pioneers Top Keystones, 3-2 | The Philadelphia Keystones could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Ray Smith into a win. Instead, the St. Louis Pioneers prevailed, 3-2, in 16 innings. Smith came in in relief and pitched to 35 batters. The Pioneers, at 50-63, have now won 4 straight.
Mike Gould, who finished 5th in the FL in wins above replacement with 9.2 in 1907, had a direct impact on the outcome. Gould contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 16th inning to put St. Louis up, 3-2.
"Every loss hurts," said Philadelphia manager Dusty Morris. "But this was a tough one." | | | | | |
