Baab goes 4-for-5, Leads Cougars to Win
The Chicago Cougars and Dallas Wranglers completed their game despite the rain.

The Chicago Cougars beat the Dallas Wranglers, 12-9, at Norris Stadium. Chicago first baseman John Baab had the hot bat. He was 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Chicago reliever Augie Hicks was the winner. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Asbury Ashmore. Tom Andress closed out the game, earning his 5th save.

Andy Babel went 1 for 4 for Chicago. The four-time Diamond Defense Award winner had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 9-9 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Asbury Ashmore. It was his 17th RBI of the season.

"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Vic Kramer told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."

The win gives Chicago a record of 14-13.
