| Pittsburgh Shut Out by Ault | The Pittsburgh Mechanics manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Baltimore Cannons. The Mechanics were overpowered by Baltimore starter John Ault, who hurled his club to victory, 1-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Jim Clement said.
Over 9 innings, Ault blanked Pittsburgh on 5 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Ault said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
To date this season, Ault has a record of 7 wins and 12 losses and a 2.99 ERA. He has appeared in 27 games and struck out 91 in 183.1 innings. | | | | | |
