| Philadelphia Dispatched, 5-1, by Chicago | The Chicago Chiefs picked up a win at Broad Street Park, topping the Philadelphia Keystones, 5-1. On the mound for Chicago was right-hander Jack Beckwith. He played a principal role in the triumph. Beckwith, now 9-12, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 0, walking 5, and allowing 1 run. Mike Pratt earned his 18th save in 21 chances.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Mort Albright to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Chiefs on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Albright told the Chicago Gazette.
The win puts Chicago at 55-54 this season.
