| Lancers Deal Grays 8-6 Defeat | The 8-6 Detroit win over Cleveland was due in large part to Jim Fadely. The Lancers center fielder was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. John Humphreys got the win, improving to 13-11. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 3. The defeat makes Cleveland 50-58.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jim Linn? The Detroit right fielder had a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Lancers on top, 4-2. For the game, Linn had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Fadely told the Detroit Bulletin.
