Minutemen Fall Short, 6-5, at Detroit
Boston second baseman Ed Wise had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Wise was 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2, even as Detroit beat the Minutemen, 6-5. Detroit pitcher Jim Norris earned the win, hiking his record to 8-3. George Kollock suffered the loss. Earl Shields, who is tied for 2nd in the FA in saves with 9, earned the save for Detroit.

In the bottom of the third, Detroit third baseman Tommy Griffin had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Griffin stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 4-2, Detroit. For the game, he went 1-2 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Detroit manager Verlin Alexander.

The Dynamos bumped their record to 30-26 with this latest triumph.
