| Lancers Get Past Cleveland for 2-1 Win | Starting pitcher Justin Chipman gave the Detroit Lancers a rock-solid effort. The Hinton, West Virginia native helped his team defeat the Cleveland Grays, 2-1, at Euclid Avenue Park. Frank Aldrich came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 3-2. Detroit is now 50-52, while Cleveland is 50-57.
Detroit used a timely hit from Jim Linn to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lancers ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Winning never gets dull," said Linn.
