| Kings Deal Foresters 7-3 Loss | The Seattle Kings beat the Cleveland Foresters, 7-3. Seattle pitcher and Estherville, Iowa, native Swede Hawkins led the way. The Foresters fall to 10-11 and continue their wobbly start to the 1974 season.
Seattle used the timely hitting of Mike Griffith to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Kings on top, 6-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Hawkins. | |
