In a low-scoring contest between the Chicago Blues and the Baltimore Cannons, Russ Hoover, who leads the UL in complete games with 22, proved to be the difference. The Chicago right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Blues win. Hoover got the win, improving to 11-18. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The loss makes Baltimore 40-60.

Had Jim Allen not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Allen hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Blues.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Allen.
