Will Beaumont was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the Cleveland Foresters hurler tossed a 9-hit, complete game shutout against the Baltimore Clippers.

"I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Beaumont. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings."

Beaumont walked 3 and struck out 3 in the 8-0 victory.

So far this year, Beaumont has made 46 starts, tossed 379.1 innings, struck out 89 batters and walked 98. His record is 14-27 with a 2.99 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .291 batting average.
