Butts Parker, who led the UL in saves with 9 in 1909, was locked in. The left-hander led the Chicago Blues to a 1-0 win against the Baltimore Cannons at Thorvald Park. In 7.2 innings, Parker surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Chicago is now 50-52, Baltimore 39-59.

Had Red Brzycki not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Brzycki hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Blues.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Baltimore skipper Monty Beatson.
