Davis Powers Pioneers to 7-4 Win | The 7-4 St. Louis win over Washington was due largely to Danny Davis. The Pioneers left fielder went 4-5 with a triple and 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. John Gibson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save. St. Louis goes to 40-18. The win puts them 6½ games up in their division.
Davis had a game-changing triple in the top of the seventh. On a 2-0 changeup from Foster Sherman, he banged a 2-run triple to right, giving the Pioneers a 6-4 lead. It was the 6th triple of the year for Davis.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Davis. | |
