| Clippers Best Pioneers in Pitching Duel | In a low-scoring game between Baltimore and St. Louis, pitcher Dick Butler was excellent. The Baltimore right-hander helped his team knock off the Pioneers, 2-0. Pat Fortier earned the save, his 3rd. Baltimore is now 14-12.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Clippers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the sixth, when right fielder Ike Barnett hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Red Kline and made the score 1-0, Clippers. Barnett went 1-4.
