| Wolves Rebuff Cougars, 3-2 | In a low-scoring affair between the Toronto Wolves and the Chicago Cougars, pitcher Ray Eddy was the difference between victory and defeat. The Toronto right-hander earned kudos in the 3-2 Wolves win. Picking up the save was 24-year old left-handed pitcher Ray Smith. Chicago drops to 14-12.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Wolves had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when center fielder Dwayne Cleaves hit a 2-run single. The single came off Pug White and made the score 3-0, Wolves. Cleaves went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
In postgame comments, Cleaves told the Toronto Daily: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?" | |
