Hawks Earn 7-4 Win Versus Oakland | The San Francisco Hawks picked up a win at Oakland Grays Baseball Park, knocking off the Oakland Grays, 7-4. Starting pitcher Bob Howe was a big reason why. Howe went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 0. His record improves to 3-1. San Francisco, now 18-11, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Don Long, the 29-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Long contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put San Francisco up, 5-2.
Long called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts." | |
