Fading Cannons Lose 6th Straight
Cincinnati got a valiant performance from pitcher Charlie Wolf, but it wasn't enough to beat the Toronto Wolves. Toronto won the game, 3-2. Wolf threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The win went to Ray Smith in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Dutch Lane took the loss. With the loss, Cincinnati drops to 11-12.

The decisive blow was delivered by Heinie Pearce in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 1968 Allen Award winner Dutch Lane to win the game for Toronto. The home crowd went nuts.

"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Pearce said.
