Sailors Handed 6-2 Loss by Kansas City | Enthusiastic fans came out to support the home team at Prairie Park.
The Kansas City Kings earned a win at Prairie Park, knocking off the San Francisco Sailors, 6-2. On the bump for Kansas City was right-hander Gene Bailey. He had a starring role in the triumph. Bailey, who is tied for 3rd in the CA in complete games with 2, went the distance for Kansas City. He gave up 2 runs on 11 hits.
Bob Burge had a big 2-run triple for the Kings in the bottom of the third inning. With Kansas City leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Hank Lacey, who is tied for 9th in the CA in wins with 3, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Kings ahead, 4-1.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Kansas City manager Glenn Carney.
The victory makes Kansas City 17-11. | |
