| Mavericks Use Late Score to Top Cannons, 3-2 | Prairie Park was the site of a tense game between the Cincinnati Cannons and Kansas City Mavericks.
In a low-scoring clash between Kansas City and Cincinnati, pitcher Orville Johnson was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned praise for his performance in the 3-2 Mavericks win. Despite the win, Kansas City, now 7-18, is off to a terrible start.
The decisive blow was delivered by Bobby Frost in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 29-year old right-handed pitcher Herm Quinn to win the game for Kansas City. The home crowd went nuts.
"The crowd was juiced," said Johnson. | |
