Stars first baseman Joe Roberts put his stamp on his team's 10-5 win over the Pittsburgh Mechanics. Roberts was 1-4 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for New York in the contest. With the victory, the Stars upped their record to 18-15.

The Mechanics had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Stars going into the bottom of the eighth inning. That changed quickly when the 12-year veteran George Murray came to the plate. Murray hit a run-scoring triple on a 0-2 changeup from Pittsburgh hurler Randy Boroughs. It was Murray's 1st triple of the year.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said New York skipper Eli Moses.
