| Imperials Clip Wranglers, 2-1 | Starting pitcher Jim White took care of business, helping the New York Imperials stifle the Dallas Wranglers, 2-1. The winner was White. He threw 6.2 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Ed Smith. The loss drops Dallas to 10-12.
The Wranglers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Imperials going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the slugging right fielder Phil Terry came to the plate. Terry hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch cutter from Dallas hurler Ed Smith. It was Terry's 4th home run of the year.
"We busted our tails," said Dallas manager George Waller. "But we came up short." | |
