Al Hubbard made an impact in the 12-2 Atlanta win over Detroit. Hubbard, who is tied for 5th in the FA in total bases with 49, slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The Dynamos fall to 9-13 and continue their uninspiring start to the 1974 season.

With Atlanta leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Hubbard batted against Detroit pitcher Jack Williams. Hubbard hit a splitter to left for a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season put the Copperheads on top, 4-1.

Hubbard told a Atlanta News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
