Thunderbirds Need Extra Innings to Top Knights, 3-2 | The Seattle Thunderbirds got a stellar performance from pitcher Charlie Van Dyke, who handcuffed the Los Angeles offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Knights Stadium. Seattle reliever Charlie Van Dyke got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Les Bennett was tagged with the loss. The win has Seattle at 1-1.
Clarence Singleton, the 27-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Singleton contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put Seattle up, 3-2.
After the game, Seattle manager Harry McCormick applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said. | |
