| Cougars Shut Out Wranglers, 3-0 | Chicago starter Roger Alford put a stranglehold on the Dallas offense. The right-hander had complete command of his cutter in leading the Cougars to a 3-0 win. Alford picked up the win for Chicago, going 8 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2. Tom Andress earned the save for Chicago, his 4th.
Tom Lorang, who led the FA in triples with 17 in 1963, had a direct impact on the outcome. Lorang contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put Chicago up, 3-0.
"All in all, I thought Roger pitched a fine game for us tonight," said Chicago manager Pug Bryan.
With the loss, Dallas falls to 13-11. | |
