The Cincinnati Cannons beat the New York Imperials, 7-6, at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Joe Barrett went 3-5 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The 24-year old shortstop was a menace to New York all day. Cincinnati is off to a hot start at 2-0.

Cincinnati got a clutch hit from Billy West. The center fielder launched a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," West said.
