| St. Louis Beats Chicago, 2-1 | In a tight contest between the St. Louis Pioneers and the Chicago Chiefs, Lloyd Henson was the determining factor. The St. Louis right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-1 win. Henson yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-2. Roy McDonald was credited with the save for St. Louis, his 5th of the season.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from center fielder Pete O'Leary. For the game, O'Leary went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead.
O'Leary attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
The loss drops the Chiefs to 13-12. | |
