| Miners Beat Visiting Millers, 6-2 | Pittsburgh got a strong outing from Hank Griswold as the Miners defeated the Minneapolis Millers, 6-2, at Fitzpatrick Park. Griswold, who is tied for 3rd in the FA in holds with 3, went the distance for Pittsburgh. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. The Miners, now 29-22, have won 4 in a row.
Roy McGee had a big 2-run double for the Miners in the bottom of the first inning. With Pittsburgh leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Joe McDowell and swatted a double to right. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Miners ahead, 4-0.
"Hank is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Pittsburgh manager Harry Barrell.
