| Late Rally by Lancers Secures 7-3 Win | The Detroit Lancers picked up a win at Thompson Field, knocking off the Toronto Beavers, 7-3. On the mound for Detroit was right-hander John Humphreys. He played a key role in the triumph. Humphreys, who is tied for 7th in the UL in quality starts with 6, went the distance for Detroit. He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits. The loss drops Toronto to 17-15.
Pete Yaughn went 2 for 3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Detroit. The 27-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Amos Brantley. It was his 11th RBI of the season.
"We didn't play well enough to win," said Toronto skipper Máximo Rios.
