| Carter Leads Comets to 12-8 Win Over Chiefs | The Houston Comets beat the Chicago Chiefs, 12-8, at Dalton Domed Stadium. The win was due in part to third baseman Ernie Carter, who was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Spencer Reese, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-0. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 9 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Houston goes to 13-10.
With Houston leading 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth, Carter hit a 2-run single off Chicago hurler Walt Jackson. It was the 25th hit of the season for Carter and put his team ahead, 7-4.
