| Clippers Win with Late Heroics | The Baltimore Clippers picked up a win at Patapsco Field, knocking off the Chicago Chiefs, 5-4, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Larry Warren played a key role in the triumph. Baltimore pitcher Sonny Stoyer got the win. He's now 2-2. Joe Jones was tagged with the loss. The Chiefs fall to 7-15 and continue their unimpressive start to the 1974 season.
In the bottom of the tenth, Clarence James had a chance to deal the knockout blow. And he did, punching a run-scoring sacrifice fly to right off Chicago pitcher Joe Jones.
James said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz." | |
