Minutemen Drop Eagles, 6-3 | The Boston Minutemen electrified the home crowd with a walk-off win.
The performance of Jack Denis proved critical in helping Boston beat Washington, 6-3, in 10 innings. The Minutemen first baseman slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Bob Hollister, now 2-6, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Denis hit a fastball from Skinny Green for a 3-run home run. The Minutemen, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"There's no quit in this team," said Minutemen manager Bill Freeman.
