| Down to Defeat Goes Detroit, 4-3 | The Toronto Beavers beat the Detroit Lancers, 4-3, at Thompson Field. Toronto center fielder Mike Nettesheim had an outstanding performance. He went 2-2 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Toronto starter Dale Hovis was credited with the win after throwing 121 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-4. The Lancers, now 11-18, have lost 4 in a row.
Nettesheim had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a first pitch slider from Roy Douglas, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Beavers a 4-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Nettesheim.
