| Mavericks Sneak Past Sailors, 5-4 | San Francisco got a big-time effort from pitcher Elmer Peters, but it wasn't enough to keep the Kansas City Mavericks from winning the game, 5-4. Peters threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Kansas City pitcher Harry Kluth got the win. He's now 3-1. Ralph Pierce was tagged with the loss. After losing, San Francisco is 11-12.
Tony Keil drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for Kansas City. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Ralph Pierce. It was his 11th RBI of the season.
"I was a little disappointed," said San Francisco manager Bob Harris. "We could've and should've scored more runs." | |
